All styles of brogans are accurate to the middle ninteenth century, though there are two distinct types: the everyday work brogan raises 4˝ inches high, (just above the ankle) and comes in black or brown; the formal brogan raises 3 inches high, (just below the ankle) laces up the front, is leather-lined, and comes in black. Both styles tend to run larger than expected. Men should typically order one size smaller than they usually wear, and women should order two sizes smaller.
We use 22mm-24mm Chippewa leather, chrome tanned, drum dyed, heavily vegetable retanned, and heavily oiled. When the leather is used flesh side out, it is also slightly buffed.
